Comprehensive Eye Examinations
Welcome to the place where dedicated professionals take a sincere interest in your vision and overall well-being. At Advanced EyeCare you will discover modern vision care at its finest, with state-of-the-art computerized equipment.
We maintain the most advanced knowledge and technology available in order to monitor the health of your precious eyes. We have available in our office the Optomap Retinal Exam.
The Optomap® Retinal Exam is unique in that it gives eyecare professionals a much larger view (200 degrees) of the back of the eye - your retina - than conventional eye exam equipment. The images can be taken without dilating your pupils - a very common procedure which is uncomfortable and inconvenient for many people.
These diagnostic tools will test your eyes thoroughly and completely. Your comprehensive eye exam will include a 12 point vision accessment exam along with 3 separate tests for glaucoma, testing for cataracts, macular degeneration, and numerous other evaluations of all of your eyes' most important functions.
You'll feel much more confident about your exam when it is carried out with the care and concern of Doctors Hoven, Rahner and Standal.

Custom Laser Vision Correction
We now have available in Durango the Custom Wave Scan technology. This is a revolutionary new advancement in Lasik surgery which allows us to take billions of measurements of the eye for a more precise outcome. Ask your doctor if you are a canidate for Custom Lasik.
Before making any decision as to whether laser refractive surgery is right for you, we strongly recommend that you see Dr. Hoven, Dr. Rahner or Dr. Standal for a free consultation.
First, they will tell you if you're a good candidate for the procedure, but secondly and most important, they will recommend a surgeon with the most experience and with the highest percentage of successful patient outcomes. We have a special interest in your long-term eye health at Advanced EyeCare.
Laser surgery is now being performed right here in Durango, and our Doctors at Advanced EyeCare are fully qualified to provide all of the necessary care both before and after your procedure. As experts in laser eye surgery science, we are here to assist you in making what can be one of the most important decisions of your life.
Dry Eye Sufferers
Are your eyes frequently dry, red, itchy or tired? Are you always reaching for the eye drops? Do you have difficulty wearing contact lenses?
Up until now, only short-term remedies have been available. Even lubricating drops give only temporary relief, since 80 percent of the moisture drains down your nose and throat right away.
Now there's long-term relief for all the irritating and damaging symptoms of Dry Eye Syndrome. A new technology utilizing a "moisture retension device", works by partially and safely blocking your tear drainage ducts so that your own naturally lubricating tears stay where they belong - in your eyes!
Ask our Doctors about having a simple diagnostic test done. Stop suffering and start feeling moist relief.
Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT)
Improve your vision while you sleep with CRT. Corneal Refractive Therapy is the Safe, Gentle Way to Better Vision Without Glasses or Contacts.
CRT uses contact lenses worn at night, while you sleep to safely reshape your cornea and improve your vision without wearing contacts or glasses during the day. The corneal shape and good vision are maintained during the day by overnight wear of the contact lenses.
CRT is completely safe and totally reversible.
CRT does not involve surgery - no permanent alteration of your cornea occurs.
CRT is fast - working in virtually all cases within the first two to three nights.
CRT is about one-half the cost of the popular lasik surgery.
Call our office today to schedule a free CRT consultation with Dr. Standal to determine if you are a canidate for CRT.
Low Vision Rehabilitation
Of the patients we see over the age of 45, over 1 in 6 report some form of vision impairment resulting in less that 20/40 vision with glasses or contact lenses. Many of these patients have vision threatening eye diseases such as macular degenaration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy or cataracts.
Our Low Vision service includes special testing to identify the magnification required for our patients activities. Then, we recommend magnification products that are best suited for the patients own personal needs.
